How I became Oscar

Oscarandfelix_1

I will have a lot of stories to share from a life in the entertainment world, and of course some baseball, which is what you’d expect from the guy who played Oscar Madison alongside my friend Tony Randall. We’re podcasting these days, so many of these stories will be in this format, and you’ll need to download the application if you don’t have it so you can hear it all. I thought I would start out by telling you why Garry Marshall gave me the biggest break of my career.

Playing Oscar for Jack is true about giving him the biggest break n his career. The character was so laughable and Jack played it fantastic and he also makes me laugh and it gives me a smile on my face. He is a wonderful actor.

I loved The Odd Couple and Quincy as a kid(and still do). And one of my favorite TwightZones is the one you did as a pool player. It’s great to see that the Odd Couple is still popular after all these years. It’s got to be one of the top 10 comdey shows. It would be good to see you in an other show. Do you have anything planned for TV?

as a true odd couple maven, i have waited many years for the show to be re-issued on dvd. still to this day i can watch my video tapes and laugh out loud as im saying the words out loud . that show was sheer brilliance and doesnt get the credit it deserves in tv history. i will absolutely get your book

    Jack,
Personally I have a weekly watch where I scour the internet looking for some glimmer of hope that One of the top 3 sitcoms in history (with The Honeymooners and Seinfeld) will be released on DVD. I will be lined up at Best Buy the day it releases.

You and Tony were the best. He is sorely missed.

Garry Marshall, another brilliantly funny and talented guy showed what great instincts he had in casting you as Oscar.

    Thanks for the laughs.

PS> One of the best lines in TV history, Oscar says to Felix who is looking over O’s shoulder while he is typing “How would you like your eyeballs rubbed with carbon paper” Great line/great delivery! Thanks again!

someone commented on being a Quincy fan- i am a huge quincy fan.. i was probably not even alive when the show taped, but now i see it occasionally in reruns. however only obscure channels carry it . IMHO, more stations should carry Quincy because of the popularity with CSI’s and the like.. Medical dramas have been popular for a while and since Q, was a crime and medical drama, it should be in the top spot for late night shows..

DEAR JACK, I HAVE SEEN YOU IN TV MOVIES AND THE ODD COUPLE. BUT MY FAVORITE WAS QUINCY, I HAVE THE DVD’S ON THAT. I WAS SO SORRY TO HEAR THAT YOU HAVE BEEN STRUGGLING WITH CANCER. BUT, YOU ARE A FIGHTER AND WILL WIN. I WAS A NURSES AID FOR 10 YEARS, SO I KNOW. I HAVE BEEN A FAN OF YOURS FOR YEARS NOW. MY FATHER HAD DIED RECENTLY OF HEART FAILURE AND END STAGE OF LIVER, ALSO HAD PROSTATE CANCER. HE DIED THIS YEAR. I REALLY MISS HIM. I WANT TO WISH YOU ALL THE BEST, TAKE CARE
DO YOU HAVE ANYTHING PLANED FOR TV? LOVE ALWAYS EGROSSMAN
